Emelia Beldon was recognized as one of the four “Athletes of the Month” for January 2017 by SportsMX and National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association (NDIAA).  This award recognizes high school athletes that have made significant impact on their teams not only on the court but in academics, leadership, and character as well.

“Emelia picked up MVP honors when she led Maryland to the Oriole Classic championship and an unprecedented fourth straight Clerc Classic championship. Possessing exceptional skills on both ends of the floor, Emelia continues to push herself to be a more complete player.  She is currently averaging 12.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.6 steals, and 6.2 assists per game.  In a home game against Model, Emelia tied the school record for most three-pointers in a game with five and she also leads the Frederick area with her assists per game average.  Emelia is a member of the National Honors Society possessing a 4.0 GPA and is actively involved in leadership roles at school.”  (Courtesy of SportsMX website)

“Emelia does everything that is asked of her to the best of her ability and expects her teammates to do the same. Her athleticism and basketball IQ is rivaled by very few.” – Maryland Girls Basketball Head Coach Amy Mowl
